Explanation

The lift force FL (also called cross-wind force) is the component of the wind force FW in the direction perpendicular to that of the motion of the center of gravity in the plane of the yaw angle Go to figure. The lift force vanishes in the absence of yaw and is the reason for the drift of a spinning projectile even in the absence of wind.
