Installation of EB on a DOS system
The EB CD contains the following
files: EBDOS.ZIP; INSTALL.BAT; PKUNZIP.EXE in a subdirectory "dos".
The simple installation program INSTALL.BAT
will install EB.EXE on any hard drive.
Do the following steps to install EB on
your DOS system:
-
DOS should be running
-
Insert the CD
-
Change to the CD drive (e.g. by typing "e:")
-
change to the "dos" subdirectory ("cd dos")
-
type "install c:"
If you want to install EB.EXE on a drive different
from c: substitute c by any legal drive identifier.
(Hint: If you want to install on
a drive higher than i:, please edit install.bat!)
Some messages appear on screen. First EBDOS.ZIP
will be copied to your hard drive before it is extracted. Finally EBDOS.ZIP
will be deleted. A message will be displayed on screen if the installation
had been successful.
Change to the directory where EB.EXE has
been installed and type "EB". This will start the program.
Refinements
1. EB can use expanded memory which accelerates
program execution. If there is no conflict with other software, the following
line should be included into your CONFIG.SYS file:
c:\windows\emm386.exe ram
2. Special program parameters (see user´s
manual) are available for
-
monochrome screens (e.g. LCD displays)
-
"personal" configurations in a network environment
-
problems with mouse double-clicks
-
exclusion of expanded memory (this may be
a severe problem which keeps EB from running!)
type "eb.exe noems" to start EB and exclude
the use of expanded memory.
3. Some user options should be configured
when running EB for the first time (see user´s manual)
